Mission
Vision
Core Constants
Zion's Mission
Zion's mission is the same as that of Christ's
Church throughout the world: "Go, then, to all
peoples everywhere and make them my
disciples." Matt. 28:19-20.
Zion's Vision
We actively reach out and bring in
new people into our family of believers,
especially new and renewed believers;
and those who worship with us, having Christ
as Savior and Lord,
own our mission of making disciples for Him,
own a part of our ministry,
and are joyfully involved in it.
Core Constants
We are Biblically Based
We are a
church in the Word. Scripture is the source of
all our teachings and practices. We are a
Christ-centered church. We believe the
Lutheran expression of doctrine to be true and
correct. We distinguish between Law and
Gospel and proclaim salvation by grace through
faith alone.
We offer Choices and Opportunities
We distinguish ourselves by the diverse choices
and opportunities offered to our people for
worship, fellowship, and growth in Christ. We
respect and affirm members' differing needs,
interests and gifts. Our program offerings bring
us together in loving spirit to respond to the
various and evolving needs of our membership.
We encourage Spiritual Growth
The
focus of our ministry is helping our individuals
grow in their relationship with God, their faith in
Christ, and their practice of following Christ. To
accomplish this we emphasize the use of
Scripture, sacraments and prayer.
We join in Uplifting Worship Services
The purpose of our worship services is to
come together to glorify God and connect
people to the love, power, and greatness of
God. The message, sacraments, music and
other elements of the service aim to touch each
person with the challenges of God's Law and
with the good news of His Gospel -- so that all
can live victorious Christian lives with greater
faith and love.
We are a Loving, Christian Fellowship
We share a common bond of faith and are
devoted to the fellowship we have with each
other in Christ. We come together often to
learn, pray, worship, have fun and enjoy each
other's company. We support one another,
care for one another and build one another up
out of sincere love for each other and for God.
Together, we celebrate the life we have in
Christ, and we bring others into our fellowship.
We have Empowered Members in
Ministry
We believe that God gives each of
us special and differing gifts for the purpose of
building up the body of Christ. He gives us
responsibility and authority to use these gifts for
this purpose. Zion equips, motivates and
provides opportunities for each person to fulfill
this ministry -- both in the activities of the
congregation and in their own personal lives.
We are engaged in Education
Zion values the study, learning, and understanding of
Scripture and the Christian faith, and how to
apply these to life in our world today. Zion
encourages and provides opportunities for
lifelong growth in these areas.
We are committed to Outreach
Zion recognizes that there are spiritual and physical
needs in our community and beyond. We exist
to reach out to others -- showing God's love
through our actions and sharing His Gospel.
We practice Responsible Management
of Human and Material Resources
Zion is committed to the effective use of our
human, physical and financial resources to
achieve our purpose of making disciples of
Jesus Christ. We value and encourage every
individual's freely-given contribution toward this
end. Our organizational processes encourage
flexibility, communication, and responsiveness
to changing needs.
