Confirmation

What is confirmation?

Confirmation is the act of confirming one’s baptism.

What is the timetable for confirmation?

An individual typically begins the confirmation process in the 6th or 7th grade. This process consists of two years of instruction led by Pastor or Family Ministries Coordinator.

What is the benefit of confirmation?

Confirmation class is aimed at helping young people know what Christ has done for them through His death and resurrection and through their baptism into unity with Him. Also, it is to teach them what it means to be a disciple or follower of Jesus. At the end of this process individuals should fully understand what we, as Lutherans, believe. They will also better understand God’s Word, the Bible, and how they may apply it in their daily life.

What happens upon completion of confirmation?

Once these years of instruction are complete, confirmands will begin to receive Holy Communion, have the opportunity to confess their faith, to confirm their baptism, and to express their intention and to be active followers of Christ and members of His church. At this special “Confirmation Sunday” service  each confirmand receives blessings from both Pastor and parents or sponsors.
