Walk Around Tacos

A Walk Around Taco is a taco in a bag – a taco that you can “walk around” eating. These tacos serve as a meal to  hungry children, many whom have limited food at home, all while supporting those who speak the Good News to the children. Walk Around Tacos are served the first Sunday and the second Saturday of every month. Participating in this servant event is a great activity for families to do together.

Zion began serving Walk Around Tacos to inner city children the summer of 2009. This monthly servant event is a direct result of Vicar Daniel Tew’s encouragement to volunteer time and talents as an evangelism opportunity. Building Hope in the City was looking for people to provide lunch to children at their Saturday Kid’s Church at Immanuel Lutheran in Avondale. Anita Kasten was instrumental in designing the Walk Around Taco lunch and with her husband, Bob, they have expanded these lunches into Over the Rhine at Prince of Peace Lutheran. At first, the kids were suspicious, but now they shout “Hooray! Tacos!” whenever they see us coming. For more information on Building Hope in the City click here.
